Great Fun was had at Washington Resource Centre – Italian Night celebrating friendship

Sunderland People First and Margaret from the Health Promotion Team came along to City Hospitals last week and mingled with staff and visitors to tell them all about friendships.
Mencaps’ theme for this year is friendships and relationships. It can be really difficult sometimes for people with a learning disability to have the opportunities to make friends.
Inclusion north have produced an easy read booklet to help you know more about friendships.
We will pop some photos on soon of event that take place this week to celebrate and encourage friendship.

As you may be aware it is almost learning disability awareness week.
This year we are focusing on the importance of friendships and relationships for people with a learning disability, and highlighting the fact that too many people are still living isolated from their communities – in fact we found that a third of young people (aged 18-35) spend less than an hour a day outside their home!
Sunderland People first will be in the main reception at City Hospitals Sunderland on the 20th of June between 12.30pm and 2.30pm, please pop along to see them all
